McCann Worldgroup has released a new poster campaign to promote ticket sales for the London 2012 Paralympic Games, featuring striking illustration by HelloVon.

Starring a number of Paraylmpic stars, including sprinter Oscar Pistorius (above), the posters have an energy and excitement that has so far been somewhat lacking from the main Olympics 2012 ads.

Adore this amazing advertisment.

Wieden + Kennedy’s Old Spice campaign was the big winner at this year’s D&AD Awards, picking up two Black Pencils out of the six awarded. There were Black Pencils too for the Plumen lightbulb, JWT New York, Arcade Fire’s Wilderness Downtown and the iPad. And Neville Brody was given the President’s Award.

W+K’s The Man Your Man Could Smell Like campaign picked up five awards in all, its Black Pencils coming in the TV Commercial Campaign Category and the TV Commercials 21-40 Seconds Category (though wasn’t the YouTube response element the most interesting bit? That only got Yellow). The wins pretty much complete a clean sweep for the campaign which has also won the top awards at Cannes, One Show, the NY Art Directors Club and many more over the past year.

This year’s Student of the Year prize, plus a 1st in the Open Advertising 2 category went to Virginia Feito, Manu Manceda, Christian El Asmar and Andrea Ayala of the Miami Ad School Madrid for the above film. The brief was to “present an idea that engages support for Oxfam by triggering shared values and concerns in a wide range of people”, which the team did by satirising common approaches to charity ads.

Leeds-based Thompson Brand Partners has created a new identity for the UK’s National Railway Museum, the largest rail museum in the world.

According to Thompson, “The new logo has been designed to reflect the direction the museum is moving in. It is modern, simple, easy to read and dynamic with a clear indication of speed and momentum. It is based on the many angled slashes that can be found in the iconography and architecture of railway throughout history. It also makes subtle reference to rails.”

So it’s been a while.

Broke up from University for summer, and it’s just been none stop so far, with so much little time for dedication to blogging and even worse…. to Graphics. But this has gotta change now!

So i’m just browsing at the moment, updating myself on what going on in the world of design. Ive also subscribed to Creative Review, which i now look forward to every month in getting the book. Such a lot to take in and I believe this will really help me generate ideas etc.

Just reading about ‘Benchmarks Awards’ at the moment, I like competitions. They are as needed as work expereince. Talking of which i’m still in good communications with a designer from Kalidoscope, he’s advising me all the time and its great to get those contacts.

The ashform is a hand made one of a kind vase. My brief was to create an identity, a logo and package for the vase.

Im very happy with the actual identity of the vase that i have created, but very disappointed with the final product, just the quality of print and poor consideration for the net.
